The D 656/27 is one of the 25 Tiger Tank Instruction Manuals, which are very technical and
require time to read and fully understand. In 1943, the “Tiger Fibel” (Tiger’s “ABC”), was created as a Service-Manual D 656/27 and approved by the Chief of Staff of the German Armoured Forces, General Heinz Guderian. It was the first and without a doubt, the best attempted work which offered tank crews a comprehensible service-handbook, where pictures speak more than words and where content is clearly understood, without straining the brain. D 656/27 was written for Tiger crews, in simple down to earth German, as an overall technical combat-instruction pocketbook, filled with tactical information on Tiger Tank and filled with amusing cartoons, jokes and morale boosting catch phrases.
